Safety
Please wear a helmet when cycling. They are light, cool, attractive, and will certainly increase your chances of surviving a head impact. Your helmet must fit properly. Please let us help with this - we will try different models, makes and fittings until satisfied. The Snell and ASTM standards are the best guidelines to quality of helmet, though the law only requires them to conform to CEN.
We keep helmets from Trek, Giro, and Specialized, ranging from £25 to £100.
Safety does not necessarily increase in proportion to the price, but comfort of fit, airflow, lightweight and aerodynamics do.
Be safe, be seen - lights, reflectors, bright clothing will all help. Also make sure that your batteries remain fresh and dynamo wires intact, and clean your lights and reflectors to give best operation. Our major range of lights are produced by Cateye - quality construction in the battery box, terminals and switches maintains reliability and good optics ensure efficiency. Rechargeable options are available.
Security
Our locks range from £6 to £125, unfortunately you very much get what you pay for. Our basic £6 lock, while resisting hand tools, would not stand the snip from a good pair of wire clippers . Choose the lock according to the bike's value to you and the environment in which it is to be left. Always lock the most valuable parts of the bike to a secure fixed object and remember that any quick - release or easily removable items are vulnerable.
